My first sketch of large orchestral score, after studying KORNGOLD's Sinfonietta. Erich Korngold, the "boy wonder" of Vienna, as a teen far exceeded giants like Richard Strauss, even Wagner with his hour-long 'Sinfonietta' ("small symphony", which isn't small at all). Being Jewish, he was forced to flee Austria-Germany in the late 30's, and established himself as the biggest name in Hollywood as a composer during the Golden Age of Film (scoring to Errol Flynn movies, like 'Robin Hood', 'Captain Hood' and 'Antony Adverse'). He gave us the "big screen sound", later imitated by John Williams. Here is just my small attempt at the dextrous key-changes and stylisms which made his music so ideal for switching from one movie scene to the next, effortlessly.
