I present to you my 1996-1997 pipe organ recordings, digitally re-mastered, including my
own new work, `Prelude in A' (SULIT), introduced here in pipe organ form and on my latest
CD, `Intimacy', re-arranged for piano as `Waltz-Prelude in A'.
This CD features my custom 4-manual pipe organ, designed and built by yours truly. The
organ features over 90 stops (sound registers), the ability to record and replay live performances
on computer, and a mechanical pedalboard-to-MIDI interface.
You may view pictures of it at www.Museeks.com/studio.
This `Fugue in G Major (the Jig)' is a crowning achievement of Bach's works, one of the
most difficult and majestic in the entire organ repertoire. It derives its rhythm from an ancient,
perhaps Irish folk dance in 6/8 meter. Here Bach elevated it to most sublime proportions. I first
tried recording it on a Hammond Concorde electronic organ at age 14 in 1983 (heard on another
CD `Sacred and Concert Organ Works'). This is a far better version.
Of high mention are FLETCHER's modern-sounding `Festival Tocatta in C Major', and
Bach's `Little Fugue'. The opening `Sonata IV' (tracks 1-3) were written by Bach to instruct his children
in advanced methods. Many of his sons went on to become highly successful composers in
their own right, far exceeding their father's earnings, although not as well-known today. Track 8
(`He Who Suffers God to Guide Him') is an organ chorale from his `Orgelbuchlein -- Little Organ
Book for the Liturgical Year'. Track 9 is Bach's majestic embellishment of the famous
Traditional Christmas carol `In Dulci Jubilo - Of Sweet Jubilation' dating back in Latin (of unknown
origins) well before the 13th century. Visit my website for the translation.
You can hear me use all 4 manuals in the `Phantom-Dracula Theme' (`Tocatta and Fugue in
D Minor') as I switch from sound to sound, to create variation and texture. These recordings
have gone on to #1 on several on-line classical charts, was named `Mp3.com Top 20 for the Year
in Music 1999' and stayed there for months straight throughout 2000-2001.
As a bonus, I include some orchestral recordings I made of the Museeks Virtual
Orchestra (MVO). You might be impressed by the realism, sounding very close to a real orchestra.
However it is actually coming from my samplers and computer, carefully prepared note by
note into a MIDI file, which I further edited over a period of months in order to get a "live" interpretation.
There are over 40,000 notes entered for RAVEL's `Bolero' alone.

Also included are two versions of Gabriel Faure's `After A Dream' (`Apres Un Reve'),
with coloratura (high) soprano Victorial Sherr singing. The first version is my own pipe
organ/string orchestra arrangement, and the second is a "Madonna-Pop" version where I add special
effects and heartbeat rhythms, played by hitting a huge cardboard box surrounding a $2500
Neuman TLM-103 microphone. There's a lot of "air" to that thud sound because it's such a great mic.
I use it on occasion as my "bass drum" for other dance mixes I do.
I use the MVO primarily for studying symphony scores of great composers, as well as trying
my hand at symphonic composition. Included is my early 1997 sketch of `Sinfonietta', which
is directly inspired by my studies of 15 year old Erich KORNGOLD, the boy genius of Vienna
in 1913, who later on came to America to give us the big "silver screen" sound. John
WILLIAMS, composer for `Star Wars', was also a huge fan of KORNGOLD, who wrote for all the
swashbuckling adventure "Golden Age" films of Errol Flynn (`Anthony Adverse', `Robin Hood', `Captain
Hood' and others). In my piece, though still lacking a bass part, you can hear the big, rushing sound
like a scene from `Gone With the Wind', another one of my personal favorite films.
