Artist History:
The Grand Central Band have played together for six years, beginning life as set of session musicians in the Grand Central Bar, Auckland, New Zealand. Now, the band boast two CD releases, a host of successful gigs and a database of fans.

The Queenstown Winter Festival 2001 said… The Grand Central band from Auckland brought the (12,000 strong) party into full swing with their jiving beats and soothing vocals, with covers from the Beatles and upbeat originals the four piece kept many woolly hats bopping and feet tapping. Through a crowd of delighted and smiling faces brilliant orange sparkling creatures on stilts weaved and flapped their huge shiny wings. The opening came to a climax as faces turned skyward to watch the American express fireworks display over the lake.
Caitlin Smith, Auckland Singer and Music Writer said…Chris Melville is the front man for Auckland based Grand Central Band - a hard-out funk-fused soul five-piece comprised of hammond organ, guitar, sax, drums and voice. Chris writes the bulk of their material and is a solo singer songwriter who may be remembered as the ‘nicest guy in the music business’ on Rikki Morris’s TV3 ‘Get your Act Together program. Chris is a great performer with trademark energy and sensuality and well-timed vocal expression which never overpowers the listener, or dominates the unfaltering talents of each band member. Every member of the Grand Central band is allowed to shine for the stars they are, and the brightest and most generous is Chris himself.
