Growing up in Southern CA, Danny Hamilton found it hard to place his unique brand of Americana/Roots/Rock. Trying to find band members in a land of punk, pop, metal and "microwave" music was equally as difficult. Danny toured the L.A. music scene for many years as a solo acoustic artist and as crowds and press began to take notice, so did other musicians.
What began as friends sitting in as a favor quickly turned in to a full throttle, grass roots rock band... Danny Hamilton and the Mudslingers! The current line up includes; Kalin Krum on bass guitar, Russell Ali on hand percussion, Paul Arrietta on drums and Christopher Lopez on keys. Though the position of lead guitarist was open for a long time, it was never left vacant! L.A. favorites like Garner Knutson of The Piper Downs or Chris Hanna of South Side Hero both have been more than willing and able to sling a little mud! Even C.C. Deville from Poison has gotten his hands dirty on stage with Danny. Chris Hanna is now the full time lead guitarist.
Though the music may be hard to describe, a DHM live show is not! With hand percussion, funky bass lines, female backup vocalists, whaling harmonicas, rockin blues guitar riffs, tribal chants, keys, drums, catchy melodies, and more raw energy and emotion than you can shake a stick at, you're guaranteed to move or be moved!
No matter what you call the music, it's catching on in a big way! Danny was nominated at the 2002 Los Angeles Music Awards for "Male, Singer-Songwriter of the Year" and again in 2003 for "Independent Album of the Year." That album, 'Where Do I Fit In', was the fourth CD in the Danny Hamilton collection but the first to include members of the Mudslingers. It is currently being played on indie and college radio stations all over the U.S.. Along with the airplay, the CD is getting flooded with rave reviews; FMSound.net called the CD "quite pleasing" and went on to say "listeners will appreciate the fresh originality of Hamilton's sound." Indie-Music.com said "this project delivers notable and powerful performances with profoundly entertaining impact", while Rock City News raved "Danny Hamilton has tremendous talent to be sure... his voice is truly unique."
Danny Hamilton is hitting the L.A. club and bar scene hard with his Mudslingers, promoting the new album and gaining new fans every day! Los Angeles has been hungry for something new and different for a long time... Danny Hamilton and the Mudslingers are sure to satisfy!

When asked about the new album and the difficulty people are having categorizing his music, Danny said:
"It's a little rock, a little folk, a little blues and sometimes a little country..... we like to call it URBAN GRASS ROOTS ROCK! ...one of the main points in my music is that it IS hard to classify.... Just like I, as a person, am hard to classify... everyone wants to quickly label and classify everything and everyone. I'm proof, both in my music and in my life, that you can't fit everyone in a box. ......everything I stand for involves being your OWN person.... So everyone can call the music whatever they want.... to me it's a little bit of everything and a little bit of everyone, just like me." |
