Artist Description:
It is rumored that Tchaikovsky was forced to drink poison by the princes in power, when public revelation of his homosexuality threatened stability of the State. Thus ended his life at a tender age of 53, shortly after his Nutcracker and phenomenal Sixth Symphony, a work to rival Beethoven's 9th. What a contradiction, or perhaps a natural coincidence, to hear such effeminate beauty in music emerge from a man so darkly haunted by his condition, forced to remain silent by a society which could not accept. His greatness magnified by his weakness, like Dionysus freezing the Heavens with his silent cry. |
