Artist Description:
Straight Outta Junior High is a band that entertains
>audiences on and off stage. With a carefree live show
>and sophomoric wit, SOJH has risen from a forgettable
>punk band into something to remember. SOJH started in
>Lincoln, Nebraska as a joke by three guys that wanted
>to have fun. After being a band for 1 week, SOJH won
>second place in a battle of the bands, without even
>knowing how to play their instruments correctly. Since
>then SOJH has figured out how to play and recorded two
>full-length albums, "Here's a Ray of Hope to Someone
>with an Inferiority Complex," and "Kiss of Deaf," with
>both albums recorded at Presto Studios in Lincoln.
>"Kiss of Deaf" was recorded by A.J. Mogis, who also
>recorded Bright Eyes, The Faint, and Cursive. SOJH has
>sold almost 5,000 of these albums on their own.
> Straight Outta Junior High has played with many
>national acts, most notable are Alkaline Trio, MXPX.
>SOJH has also played with bands such as Allister,
>Plain White T's, Divit, Don't Look Down, Ultimate
>Fakebook, and the Vibrators. SOJH has gone on numerous
>tours of Midwest, South, and Southwest, and SOJH is
>planning a nationwide tour this spring. SOJH also
>played a date on the 2003 Warped Tour. SOJH placed
>second out of 2,500 bands in the Ernie Ball Battle of
>the Bands, winning new instruments and a show at the
Key Club in Hollywood. Straight Outta Junior High has recently signed with Mindset Records, a subsidiary of Fastmusic. SOJH will release "Kiss of Deaf" nationwide in February 2004 with nationwide distribution through Suburban Home and Caroline Records |

Press reviews:
Punk Planet Review of Kiss Of Deaf
"This is an amusing pop punk rock band that tends to play at lightning speeds, has catchy hooks, decent wit, and song writing that falls somewhere in between Weezer, The Descendents, and NOFX. This is top shelf
quality that needs some recognition. I'm usually the first to bash stuff like this, but it's really fucking good. I'm tired of the dumb lyric punk rock stuff, but these guys rely more on wit and presentation. Even
when it's a tad ridiculous, these guys are so
incredibly tight, I end up smiling and start rocking to the beat. I'm even won over by the cover of Total Eclipse of the Heart, a song I can't fucking stand. If I had a contact at Fat Wreck, or some other label, I'd
be telling them to go to Nebraska and check out SOJH!
These guys can rock it. (DM)"
