Press reviews:
What Gods Of Music have to say: ARTIST: JOHN GARZA SONG: ONE ARMED GIRL GENRE: FOLK / WORLD / FOLK / AMERICANA SIMILAR: PAUL SIMON / JIM CROCE I'll tell you this right off the bat . . . John Garza has something good here, something well worth your four minutes. He is a self-proclaimed one man band, playing and mastering all his music himself, which is difficult under the best situations. But not only does he do this all himself, he does it all very well! This track comes off sounding very professional, well mixed, and it is definitely of superior quality. His lyrics are wry as he speaks of his one armed girl, but also heartfelt. He's witty but he also knows how to get the emotion through. "She was a one armed girl And she was working real hard Where no one could see And when I saw her face I knew I'd know her name She was a one armed girl And she got to me" His writing style and performance remind me of Jim Croce throughout this song, and I admire that. His songs succeeded because they spoke to the average person, those of us who knew real Roller Derby Queens, who always wanted to know about Big Bad Leroy Brown. I say that John Garza's music speaks in the same way, in that it sounds different at first, but it grows on you in ways most music cannot. Good job, John, I look forward to hearing more of you!
