Artist Description:
Elaine Lau has appeared as keyboardist and soloist with Canadian orchestras, and has been broadcast on Public Radio in the United States, performing Canadian works. Recent new music appearances include the Canadian Chamber Ensemble and NUMUS. As duo-pianist with Joseph Ferretti, she has recently performed at the Banff Centre, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Festival.
Elaine holds a Masters Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff. She also received her Artist Diploma in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. Her teachers in Canada include Peter Longworth, Valerie Tryon and Gwen Beamish. Prizes include awards from the Women’s Art Association of Canada, the Canadian Music Competitions, and as Winner of the Student Artist Programme Competition in Cincinnati and the Reginald Bedford Piano Competition. She has performed as coach-accompanist for the Opera Theatre of Lucca in Italy, and is currently an accompanist for the Glenn Gould School and the Young Artist Performance Academy at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Elaine has also recently joined the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts as a coach and collaborative pianist, where she works with talented high school music students for five intensive weeks in the summer. She has been on the piano faculty at Wilfrid Laurier University since 2003 and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp since 2005. |
